It’s been an interesting 7 weeks – my main problem the last few weeks was finding the time to keep up. I would like to go back and explore many of the tools in more detail – delicious, blogs, FrontPage. I’m already sold on Wikis which we use at CLAMS already. The least useful — hard to know but I may not bother with Technorati. I don’t feel I explored it too well though.
I would like to know more about recording online tutorials just like Kathy did for this class. That would come in really useful as a trainer here at CLAMS.
I’m falling behind a little and trying t make up lost time on the Wiki exercise. Luckily this week was one of my favorites. I’ve used Wikis in work so the concept was not completely new for me. The article I read and sites suggested by Kathy opened my eyes to the many possible uses for Wikis in Libraries. Wikis seem more user friendly and plain useful than Blogs to me. I like the idea of collaborative effort — anything from planning a group trip, sharing book reviews, editing training documents, community information. So many possibilites.
Everything went well with RSS Feed exercise until I tried to add the RSS symbol to my sidebar. Several attempts at adding the Text widget failed. I keyed in the text string but I’m stuck. I await instructions from Kathy and will try again tomorrow. RSS feeds are something I will probably use daily to save time logging into different web pages. No doubt I will edit the feeds I have right now as there are too many. Halfway through the course – so much to learn!
